Business owners and commercial operations have many choices available to them when it comes to cooling their buildings in Glenwood Springs, Aspen, and Vail, CO. Climate Control Company wants to make sure you don’t forget about the commercial A/C choices available with a ductless mini split system. In many situations they are the best choice for comfort, ease of installation and efficiency.
Refresher Course
Despite a long history of use for heating and cooling, many people aren’t as familiar with mini split systems as they are with forced air and radiant. Perhaps part of the reason is the variety of names used to describe them. Among them are mini splits, mini split air conditioners, and ductless heat pumps. The simplest way for me to describe a mini split system is that it uses the same technology as the air source heat pumps used for central heating and cooling. But mini splits don’t use ducts. Instead the air handlers (we call them heads or head units) deliver the conditioned air directly to a specific room or area. Multiple head units can be attached to a single outside compressor.
Consider the advantages
Put everything together and there are many good reasons to choose a mini split system:
- Efficiency—Because there is no ductwork, there is no loss of cooling efficiency caused by leaks and improper duct insulation.
- Easy installations—Each air handler is connected to the compressor by just electrical and refrigerant lines requiring a simple three-inch opening in the exterior wall.
- Ductless = versatility—Because no ducts need to be installed, a mini split system is extraordinarily versatile. Your building is old and was never designed for a central system? No problem. Planning on new construction with a modern radiant heating system? Mini splits are the ideal way to provide commercial A/C without having to add ducts.
- Custom temperature control—Each head unit has its own thermostat/remote control so each room or area can be kept at a comfortable temperature.
A system to fit every need
If you’re wondering about the commercial air conditioning applications for mini splits look no further than:
- Hotels & resorts
- Office buildings
- Restaurants
- Strip malls
There are many manufacturers who provide commercial mini split systems. Climate Control features the Mitsubishi brand and we have installed these reliable units in dozens of commercial applications across the Western Slope.
