SPLIT SYSTEM: Compare this to a mini-split heat pump. There is an air handler on the wall of your wine room and it’s connected to a condenser outside the room.

SELF-CONTAINED: This is usually for larger wine cellars of 500 to 5,000 square feet. The easiest way to describe this is a separate central system with its own ductwork delivering the conditioned air to the cellar. This system usually requires a water supply and water drain.
