Control Systems

Service Overview

It wasn’t very long ago when Wi-Fi connected thermostats were the cutting edge of building automation technology. Just like key fobs in cars were once considered high tech. Now we’re on the verge of self-driving cars and have buildings that automatically control heating, cooling, lighting, and security.

You can count on Climate Control to stay on top of these remarkable advances. We have experienced control experts on staff who can design custom building solutions tailored to each client’s needs. It’s what sets Climate Control apart from other HVAC companies. It’s part of the reason we like to call ourselves the problem solvers.

So, naturally the first question is what in the world does building automation mean for me? Well, it means:

At the heart of systems control is the building automation system (or BAS). The system is designed to keep the occupants comfortable and safe and do it in the most efficient way possible. The result in a business setting is a direct impact on the productivity and performance of your workers. Residential automation systems can do the same thing in your home.

Climate Control features the Niagara building automation system. It’s software manufactured by Tridium, part of the renowned Honeywell family of products. In the business it’s call the “front end” of the BAS, which is a fancy way of saying it’s the graphical interface allowing the customer to control the systems. Niagara is also capable of controlling entrance security and video surveillance systems if the client wants those features.

A customizable automation system is also a perfect fit for rental property managers or vacation homes, which are so prevalent on Western Slope. The user can set up a calendar that is communicated to the Niagara control system. If the property is going to be empty for a two or three-week period, the settings can be changed to reflect that. It’s a much more efficient way to control heating and cooling in buildings that have odd occupancy schedules.

No matter the setting, the most important job Climate Control has is educating the user about the advantages of allowing the automation to do its job. Some people are hesitant to put their faith in the software and insist on controlling the systems manually. We emphasize the customized control system is going to provide the highest air quality and most accurate temperature control and do it more efficiently than a person can. The generally accepted number by industry experts is BAS will cut energy costs by 30%. Whenever we install a building automation system our Climate Control experts will be there every step of the way to educate the client about how to use it. Our goal is to completely eliminate the intimidation factor so common with new technology.

The Niagara system also functions as an early warning system. It connects to the Wi-Fi in your home, business, or apartment/condominium complex. It allows Climate Control to continually monitor the performance of the comfort systems. Let’s say the temperature drops in your high efficiency boiler. Niagara will notify with an alert and the problem can be fixed before you end up with a frozen home or business.

Building and home automation systems are just one more way Climate Control is comfort driven, Colorado style. It’s what we’ve been doing since 1956.
